Volunteers
The Children's Museum and Theatre of Maine (CMTM) is looking for energetic, enthusiastic individuals to join our volunteer team.CMTM exists to inspire discovery and imagination through exploration and play. The museum serves children ages 0-10 and their families.
We provide daily arts, science and cultural enrichment programs for more than 100,000 visitors per year.
Volunteers at the Museum & Theatre...
- Greet and orient visitors
- Lead art activities
- Present star shows in our mini-planetarium
- Assist with preschool programs
- Help with special events
- Teach children about the sea creatures in our aquarium touch tank
- Organize plays in our Dress-Up Theater
- Conduct silly science experiments
- Jam with our music kit

Volunteers especially are needed for our Members' Monday programs from 9-11am throughout the school year, for our Free Friday programs from 5-8 on the first Friday of each month, during school vacation weeks and on federal holidays.
Volunteer shifts are flexible and are available Tuesday-Saturday from 10am-5pm and Sunday 12pm-5pm. A minimum commitment of 4 hours per month is requested, and training is provided.

Friends Committee
Join a group that gives: the CMTM Friends Committee.
The purpose of the Friends Committee of the Children's Museum & Theatre of Maine is to gather an active group of people committed to increasing public awareness of the Museum & Theatre. The Friends Committee also organizes volunteers to raise money through special events like the Annual Auction.
The Friends Committee is a wonderful way to meet other parents and their children and support and sustain an outstanding community resource. We welcome anyone who is interested in meeting fellow parents and learning more about what's happening at the Children's Museum & Theatre of Maine. Whether you re a social butterfly, a computer whiz, a cheerleader or a bookkeeper, there s a place for you on the Friends Committee!

Internships
Internships are crafted to meet the needs of the Museum and the skill and interest level of the student. Museum internships provide opportunities to work directly with the visiting public as part of the education department or behind the scenes in the exhibits and development departments.
