Map It Out

There are so many kinds of maps, all around us!  Maps help us find our way home, discover treasure, and explore new places. Have you ever wanted to create your own world? Whether it’s another planet, a magical Maine island, or a cozy hideout, maps can help us travel to new places. What kind of map will you create? Where will it take you? 

A Children’s Museum &Theatre of Maine Visitor Program Associate will guide participants through the map-making process, including:

  • Creating a large group Mural Map and exploring it together! The Mural Map can be guided by the group’s imagination or it can be specific to your site or program them.

  • Using paper, glue, and markers to create land, water, roads, buildings, and even characters to populate your world, idea, or a space special to you.

  • Developing places names, titles, and legends for individual map creation.

$500 for 2 hours + mileage 


 

Create a Comic

Tell a story using pictures! Using markers, glue sticks, and an assortment of emoji-like images, artists of all ages can create a comic with a beginning, middle, and end.

A Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine Visitor Program Associate will guide participants through the fundamentals of the comic-making process, including:

  • Cut and Paste character options for all ages

  • Developing your own characters and storylines

  • Using comics to express emotions of all shapes and sizes  ;

  • Exploring storytelling through imagery.

$500 for 2 hours + mileage 


 

Pollination Station

Let’s get curious about the pollinators (Bees! Butterflies! Birds!) who help plants grow around the world. This flow-through program focuses on the important pollinators who live all around us.

A Children’s Museum &Theatre of Maine Visitor Program Associate will guide participants through pollinator puppet-making, using common materials to bring Bees, Birds and Butterflies to life, including:

  • Learning about local pollinators through puppet-making.

  • Designing your won puppet. Will it have feathers? How will it fly? What will it eat?

  • Joining impromptu pollinator puppet shows with other participants.

$500 for 2 hours + mileage
