Party and Space Rentals

Thank you for your interest in holding an event at the Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine!

Rentals occur in the evenings and generally require at least three weeks’ notice.  

Currently, we are offering two rental-type options.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • All rental options include access to the lobby, where we allow food and drink. Food and drink are not permitted in the upper levels of the museum. Please note that food and drink must be provided by the host and CMTM does not provide any food or drink during these events.

  • Decorations are restricted in location and type. For any questions please inquire with bookings@kitetails.org

  • Caterers are welcome with certificate of insurance for facility rentals (not for Friday Fun Nights).

  • Alcohol is only allowed at facility rentals with certificate of insurance and third party bartenders with proof of license. Guests may not carry alcohol (opened or unopened) onto the premises.

Options

  • MakerSpace Event -  A private, 2.5-hour play session for up to 50 guests. Includes access to the lobby (with the climber & dress-up theatre) and the entire second floor of exhibits with a fully stocked and staffed MakerSpace for all your creating adventures! (Starting at $1,000.00)

  • STEM-based Event - A private, 2.5-hour play session for up to 50 guests. Includes access to the lobby (with the climber) and the entire third floor of exhibits, with STEM-based educator-led programming in our IDEXX STEM Learning Hub classroom. (Starting at $1,000.00)

  • CMTM’s Maddy’s Theatre Event - A private, 2.5-hour rental of Maddy’s Theatre, with seats for up to 89 guests and the viewing gallery. Includes access to the lobby (with the climber). (Starting at $1,500.00)

  • Full Facility Rental (1-100 guests) - A private, 2.5-hour play session for up to 100 guests. Includes the entire museum (without Theatre) and a choice between educator-led MakerSpace programming OR special STEM programming in our IDEXX STEM Learning Hub classroom. (Starting at $2,500.00)

  • Full Facility Rental (101-300 guests) - 2.5 hours of private access to all three floors of the Children’s Museum, including the climber, the Arts and Culture floor, and the STEM floor. Includes a fully-staffed MakerSpace workshop, where visitors can design, construct, and take home creations made with a variety of tools and materials, and a drop-in, educator-lead STEM program in our IDEXX STEM Learning Hub classroom, where young learners can make big connections about the world around them. (Starting at $4,500.00)


    Please note: Discounts for non-profit partners may be available depending on grants and other funding opportunities.
