Afterschool Experiences

Whether children are inventing worlds through theatre and improv or exploring arts and science, each experience invites learners to dive in, try new things, and build confidence through joyful exploration! Afterschool Experiences are designed with the whole child in mind. The sessions create and foster collaboration, empathy, critical thinking, and self-awareness skills for children in grades K-2 & grades 3-5.

Art Explorers

Art Explorers invites you to dream, tinker, create, and play in our MakerSpace! Each week, you’ll discover a new art form and experiment with unexpected materials, creating projects like Shrinky Dinks, mosaics, and more. Build your creative confidence and a lifelong love of art, then head out for playful adventures in our second-floor exhibits when you’re ready for a break.

Designed for grades K-2.

Science Explorers

Science Explorers invites you to wonder, experiment, create, and discover! Each week, you’ll dive into a new science-inspired adventure through hands-on experiments and imaginative art projects, exploring everything from making colorful slime to uncovering the magic of chromatography. When you’re ready to explore beyond the experiment, you can head to our second-floor exhibits for even more interactive discovery and play.

Please note: no class on November 11 and November 25.

Explorations in Wonderland

In preparation for our upcoming MainStage production of ALICE’S ADVENTURES IN WONDERLAND, we are offering a very special opportunity for young actors to explore the world of Lewis Carol using creative drama, imagining, and improvisational theatre games to embody the different moments and characters of the story. We will bring to life different locations like the Queen’s Court and the tea party, different moments like the caucus race and growing and shrinking, culminating in our own retelling of this story for our friends and family on December 15. Actors will work on their storytelling skills, and have the opportunity to try out different characters of this beloved story.

Please note: no class on November 24.

Travel Through Time

Calling all time travelers! We need your help to build a time machine and travel across space and time! In this collaborative, ensemble-based class, actors will create original characters and develop a story together through game-based storytelling. Will we make it back to Maddy’s Theatre, or get stuck somewhere in time? A final showcase will be held at 5 pm following the final class on Wednesday, December 16 for family and friends.

Please note: no classes on November 11 or November 25.

Afterschool Experience Policies

Refunds

We structure our classes carefully based on attendance and want to ensure that as many people as possible have access to Afterschool Experiences. If you have any questions about refunds, please contact bookings@kitetails.org

Absences

Refunds will not be issued for a missed class because a participant is sick, away on vacation, or absent for another reason.

Minimum enrollment

All classes are subject to minimum and maximum enrollment. We reserve the right to cancel any Afterschool Experience due to low enrollment. Anyone registered for such a workshop will receive a full refund.

Cancellations

Full (100%) refund up to 5 days before the start of the class (with no transaction fees).
Full (100%) refund will be offered if CMTM cancels a class due to not reaching minimum enrollment.

Inclement Weather

CMTM reserves the right to cancel an Afterschool Experience due to inclement weather. Cancellations will be made on the morning of the class. Participants will be notified of the cancellation via email. In the event that we cancel an event, the class will be rescheduled to a future date, or the participants will be given a discount code for the prorated number of missed classes to be applied to future workshops within that school year.
