Theatre on the Go: Bringing Stories to Life in Your Community

The Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine is hitting the road with Theatre on the Go, bringing the joy and magic of children’s theatre to schools, community centers, libraries, arts venues, and theater spaces across Maine and New England.

From classrooms to gymnasiums, cafetoriums to outdoor stages—we’re ready to transform any space into a stage!

Why Live Theatre Matters in Schools and Communities

Live theatre opens hearts, sparks imagination, and brings people together. For children, it’s more than a performance—it’s an opportunity to:

  • Build empathy through storytelling

  • Strengthen language and listening skills

  • Explore emotions and social dynamics

  • Feel seen, heard, and valued

  • Discover creativity, confidence, and joy

When students experience live theatre together, they build shared memories that enrich classroom learning and deepen community connection.

2026/2027 Touring ProductionS

Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland

By Deborah Lynn Frockt with music composed by Patrick Belanger

Based on the book by Lewis Carroll

Produced by special arrangement with Plays for a New Audience

Available for tours May - June, 2027

Things are getting curiouser and curiouser. What began as a more than ordinary afternoon quickly transforms into adventure when Alice follows a painter into a world beyond imagination, wonderland! Along the way, she encounters talking flowers, a Cheshire Cat, the Mad Hatter, the Queen of Hearts, and of course a white rabbit in a waistcoat and a pocket watch. Celebrate curiosity, creativity, and the joy of discovering your own “muchness” on a playful journey through Wonderland — where nothing is quite as it seems and imagination leads the way.

Best enjoyed by: Anyone ready for an unexpected adventure. Blending familiar characters, surprising scenarios, and ample whimsical word-play, this production is a fresh take on a classic story designed to keep all ages captivated through the rabbit hole and back out again.

Estimated run time: 75 mins.
