Health and Safety Policies and Practices

Our highest priority is the safety and well-being of our visitors, members, and staff. Below, you will find an overview of our comprehensive policies and practices designed to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. From cleanliness protocols to safety guidelines, we are dedicated to providing a healthy and safe environment for children and families to imagine and learn through play.

HEALTH POLICIES

The following policies aim to create the safest environment for guests of the Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine (CMTM). By purchasing tickets to visit our facility, you promise to follow these policies. Thank you for your cooperation.

Masks

Mask-wearing is required for “mask-required” visits on the first Thursday morning of each month from 9 to 11 am for ages two and up. These play sessions are designed to create a safer space for immunocompromised individuals.

Illness - In Case of Illness & Cancellation

If you or anyone in your party is exposed to, exhibits symptoms of, or has tested positive for a contagious illness at any time before your visit, follow CDC recommendations, including isolation or masking. Please stay home if you feel sick to reduce the risk of spreading illness. If you have reserved tickets, please get in touch with us so we can release those tickets for other visitors. Call us at 207-828-1234 or reply to your ticket confirmation email.

Guest Note: CMTM reserves the right to refuse admission or ask people to leave the campus if they show signs of contagious illness or are not following current health and safety policies.

HEALTH & SAFETY PRACTICES

In addition to the above policies, the following CMTM practices are in place to help ensure the health and safety of our visitors.

Cleaning

CMTM is professionally cleaned with CDC-recommended products each night after closing, including disinfecting all high-touch areas, including door handles, knobs, elevator buttons, and stair rails. Staff cleans all high-touch areas and props throughout the day, using CDC-recommended products.

Air Handling

New and custom: Our custom building has been designed specifically for us with brand-new heating and cooling systems, making it more effective and efficient.

Fresh airflow in occupied areas: We have an Energy Recovery Ventilator that will provide fresh air flow to occupied areas of the building. This will be especially helpful for places like the theatre, where visitors will typically stay for more than an hour. Fresh air ventilators will improve air quality in the theatre during performances. Energy Recovery Ventilators also help save energy, which is good for our environmental footprint.

Outside Air: The outside air exchange rate handled by the Energy Recovery Unit is designed to provide 3000cfm outside air to the occupied areas of the building. This equates to about 1.5 (AC/HR) of Outside Air within the building every hour.

Do you have other health and safety questions? Please contact guestservices@kitetails.org, and a member of our team will reply as soon as possible. Thank you for helping to maintain a healthy and safe environment for everyone.
