“For Tots” at CMTM

Introducing Early Concepts in Art, Science, Performing Arts, and Theatre

CMTM’s free-with-admission “For Tots” programming engages children ages 2 to 5 with age-appropriate social-emotional learning experiences that introduce early art, science, and theatre concepts. All programs included with admission.

“For Tots” programming pauses for the summer. We can’t wait to learn, play, and grow with you again this fall!

Programs Times

Programs Descriptions

Theatre for Tots

In Theatre for Tots, children gain confidence and build social interaction skills as they sing songs, role play, and interact with puppet friends. Children learn to use their imagination as they make friends and pretend together. Theatre for Tots is held Monday at 10 am in Maddy’s Theatre on the 1st floor.

Art for Tots

In Art for Tots, children learn about a different artist each week, along with the mediums they traditionally used. Then, guided by an instructor, children work alongside others to use those materials to create their own piece of art. Art for Tots is held Wednesday at 10 am in MakerSpace on the 2nd floor.

Science for Tots

In Science for Tots, activities are modeled on the scientific method, encouraging children to observe, ask questions, predict, and share their outcomes with fellow playmates. Each month features a new learning objective related to STEM and social emotional learning. Science for Tots is held Thursday at 10 am in the IDEXX STEM Learning Hub on the 3rd Floor.

Nature for Tots

Dig into the natural world with Nature for Tots! This weekly program is designed for children ages 1-5 and their caregivers. Explore the nature of the land we now call Maine and beyond through storytelling, experiments, imaginative play, and more. Nature for Tots is held Friday at 10 am in the IDEXX STEM Learning Hub on the 3rd floor.

Is For Tots For Me?

CMTM’s For Tots series offers a special opportunity for caregivers and children to learn, play, and explore together. Whether you select Science for Tots, Art for Tots, or Theatre for Tots, each 30-minute session engages little learners while fostering meaningful connections between families. Caregivers actively participate in every aspect of class, encouraging curiosity and creativity in their young artists, scientists, and performers.

Beyond the learning experience, For Tots provides a welcoming space where families can connect with others in their community. Many participants return regularly, forming friendships and building a supportive network. Whether you're looking to spark your child’s imagination, nurture their love of discovery, or simply enjoy a fun and interactive experience together, For Tots is a wonderful way to grow, learn, and make lasting memories.
