About

P.D. Eastman’s classic children’s book comes to life in this silly play starring a pack of silly dogs. The dogs love to sing, dance, and howl at the moon. Guess what? They can even drive cars like people! Together, they have the most colorful and exciting adventures you can imagine. A big and little world of dogg fun like a pop-up book that comes to life - and never stops.

Jared Mongeau plays MC Dog

Jared (he/him/his) is honored to be appearing again in Maddy’s Theatre as a member of the Children’s Museum and Theatre of Maine’s Acting Company! He was previously seen as Homer Zuckerman and the Old Sheep in Charlotte’s Web, the Business Man in Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! The Musical!, the Man in Suit in Dragon’s Love Tacos, and as a special guest with Aardvark Boat Tours, which he created with Nolan Ellsworth, whom he is proud to share the role of MC Dog with. For grown-ups, he has worked with Portland Stage, the Portland Theater Festival, Good Theater, Mad Horse Theater Co., and coming up in Portland Shakespeare Company’s production of The Lion in Winter, among others. He loves dogs so much he works with them every day as an Adoption Counselor at Midcoast Humane animal shelter in Brunswick.

Nolan Ellsworth plays MC Dog

Nolan (he/him) is a performer/educator living in Portland, Maine. He loves working in Maddy's Theatre, where he has performed in Mouse on the Move and the special guest show Aardvark Boat Tours! Nolan can usually be found upstairs in the Children's Museum & Theatre of Maine performing his other role as a Visitor Program Associate. Around Portland, Nolan has worked with Fenix Theatre, Dramatic Repertory Company, Portland Stage, Ziggurat Theatre Ensemble, the Maine Playwrights Festival, and STAGES Youth Theatre. He would like to thank his dog Birdie for her guidance as he prepared for this role.

Kat Moraros plays Hattie

Kat (she/they) is paw-sitively howling with joy to be making her CMTM debut! They have fond memories of attending musical theater summer camps at the Children's Theater of Maine during middle school. Since then, Kat has trained in many acting techniques at Bates College, London Dramatic Academy, and Black Box Academy; lived and performed extensively in Chicago; and toured educational theater and workshops across the country. Maine credits include work with Portland Stage, Good Theater, Mad Horse, Fenix Theatre Co., Theater at Monmouth, and more. When not onstage, Kat is also a professional photographer based in Southern Maine. Thank you to the Go Dog. Go! cast and production team for such a woof-tastic experience! @katmoraros @katmorarosphotography

Mason Hawkes plays Blue Dog

Mason Hawkes is a local queer artist and actor who enjoys spending time with their Golden Retriever, Cleopatra (Cleo for short), exploring the many sights and smells of the Maine woods. Mason is currently studying a degree in film at Southern Maine Community College and gets a lot of their inspiration from nature and the wild places it can take our imaginations! If they're not studying or acting on the stage you may have a hard time finding Mason at all because they're often off searching for magic you can't see and finding treasures you can't share through words.

Megan Tripaldi plays Red Dog

Megan (she/they) is an actor, internationally produced playwright, educator, and new mom living and working in Portland, ME. They graduated from the University of Southern Maine with a BA in Theatre in 2012 and received a Masters Degree in Playwriting from Goddard College in 2023. She is happy to keep creating with her awesome spouse/best dad ever, Rocco, and can’t wait to see her little nugget on stage (if he chooses)!

Caleb Eugley plays Yellow Dog

Caleb (He/Him) is thrilled to be back on the Maddy’s Theater stage! You may have previously seen him as Wilbur in Charlotte’s Web, or Frick in Gruff! Caleb has also worked as a Technical Theatre Intern and a Theatre Assistant here at CMTM. He has received multiple awards regionally and nationally for his design, directing, and collaboration work from the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival as well as the Stagecraft Institute of Las Vegas. Caleb is also a proud member of the CMTM Acting Company. He would like to thank Liz, Sam, the cast and crew, and the entire theater team and staff here at CMTM for this wonderful opportunity and for continuing to inspire joy and play in our community.

Emily Grotz plays Green Dog

Emily (she/her) has performed with Fenix Theatre Company in their production of Midsummer Nights Dream (Helena). Recently she performed with Waterville Opera House in The Play That Goes Wrong (Annie) and with Camden Shakespeare Festival in As You Like It (Rosalind). She has performed in Portland with Mad Horse Theatre, Maddy’s Theatre, Portland Players, and more.

Schuyler White is the Dog Swing

Schuyler (he/him) is delighted to be back at Maddy's Theatre after appearing in Don't Let The Pigeon Drive The Bus! The Musical! earlier this year. He has a long list of theater credits throughout Southern Maine, with some of his favorite roles including Enjolras in Les Miserables, Uncle Fester in The Addams Family, Anthony Hope in Sweeney Todd, Dr. Neville Craven in The Secret Garden, Tony in West Side Story, the Cowardly Lion in The Wizard of Oz, Charlie Brown in A Charlie Brown Christmas, Paul in Company, William Barfée in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Captain Phoebus in The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Boris in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Riff Raff in The Rocky Horror Show, John Utterson in Jekyll & Hyde, and Mark Cohen in Rent. Schuyler is grateful to be part of such a fun and friendly cast, and for the opportunity to create entertaining and engaging theater for both children and adults.

Liz Carlson - Director

Liz (she/her) is a Portland-based director and dramaturg. She holds an MFA in Directing from Temple University in Philadelphia and currently teaches theatre at the University of Southern Maine. Recent directing credits include Into the Woods (USM), the world premiere of Richard Dresser’s 100 Years (Troy Foundry Theatre), As You Like It (Saratoga Shakespeare), and The Winter’s Tale (Curio Theatre). This is her first show with Maddy’s Theatre and it has been a delight to work with these wonderful dogs! This show is dedicated to Felix, who loves this book, especially the dogs in cars, zoom! zoom! Other stage managing credits include The Addams Family Musical, Lend Me a Tenor, and Into the Woods. Outside the theater, Samantha works for Unum as a Supplemental Health Technical Specialist. She lives in Gorham with her husband and their four cats.

Jen Segal - Musical Director
Jen (she/her) is thrilled to again be working with the awesome team at Maddy’s Theatre and this fantastic cast! Jen spent several years performing in and around New York City from clubs in Greenwich Village to Carnegie Hall. Since moving to Maine in 2005 to raise a family, Jen has worked to help provide opportunities to build community through the arts. She has served on the founding boards of The Freeport Shakespeare Festival and the Cumberland County Children’s Theatre and has spent almost a decade as a trustee with the Portland Symphony Orchestra.
