The Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine will bring its Istar the Humpback Whale traveling exhibit to Family Night at the Governor John Fairfield School, 75 Beach Street, Saco on Thursday, October 10, 2019 from 5-7 PM. The museum & theatre will bring the popular 45-foot replica of a real humpback by the same name as part of its Museum-On-the-Go programming.

Educators staffing the event will use storytelling and artifacts with the giant whale model to explore with the general public what humpbacks eat, where they swim, and how they thrive in the ocean.

Director of Theatre & Education Reba Askari said, “We are so excited to bring Istar the Whale to Saco as a Museum-On-The-Go experience. For years, communities have asked us to bring exhibits and informal learning opportunities to them. Museum-On-the-Go is an opportunity for us to provide hands-on, informal learning to communities throughout Maine!”

Family Night will also include a Scholastic Book Fair with Scholastic books and merchandise, as well as food and refreshments for sale.

The event is free and open to the public.
