You Make Belonging Possible; THANK YOU!

In 2023, the Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine marked our Theatre’s Centennial Celebration. As we reflect on this historic anniversary of performance and play, our thoughts turn to the people who make CMTM an essential part of the Community. For 100 years, CMTM has centered joy, learning, creative exploration, and play in all that we do, and you have been with us every step of the way!

In this season of Gratitude, we find ourselves especially grateful for the many contributors who help open our Big Yellow Doors each day:

🧡 Our Staff who keep the Museum & Theatre clean, comfortable, safe, and engaging for all.

⭐ Our Board of Directors and Advisory Council, who guide our path forward.

🧡 Our Volunteers who give their time, energy, and talents to support our mission.

⭐ Our Community Partners, who believe in the power of collaboration.

🧡 Our Donors and Sponsors who allow us to dream big, and make those dreams a reality.

⭐ And especially, you, Our Visitors. Whether you are a one-time visitor, a regular guest, or a CMTM Member, know that we are grateful for YOU.

Your Impact: By The Numbers

CMTM’s Community continues to grow each year. In 2023, we saw visitors from all 50 states, Puerto Rico, Washington DC, and 19 countries!

CMTM also:

⭐ Welcomed 224,103 visitors to the Museum & Theatre. CMTM is now the most visited museum and rated the 5th most visited venue in the state of Maine.

🧡 Provided free or reduced admission to 40,274 guests. Use of one of our most utilized discounts, Museums For All, rose more than 270% year-over-year. Our access initiatives also allowed 1,059 visitors to attend main-stage production shows in CMTM’s Maddy’s Theatre for free or reduced-price admission.

⭐  Offered eight free “Play Your Way” sensory-friendly visit times and welcomed over 900 participants.

🧡 Hosted 4,635 children from over 100 schools, camps, and educational organizations. This includes visits from ALL Portland Public Elementary Schools and schools from as far away as Quebec.

By working together, we’ve had an incredible second year at our Thompson’s Point facility. We are certain that our next hundred years will be full of magic, wonder, and especially PLAY, and we hope that you will continue to support us as we imagine and grow together.

Thank you for helping to build and maintain our diverse and welcoming Community and facility. Your investments in our success allow us to say to every visitor, “You belong.”

With gratitude,

The Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine

Preserving CMTM is a shared responsibility and a commitment to our collective future. By working together, we can create a world where every child has the opportunity to create, learn, and play at a space of immersive discovery that welcomes them just as they are.
