On Wednesday, March 13, the Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine was honored at the Visit Portland Annual Meeting for our dedication to embodying the authentic spirit of the Greater Portland region with the prestigious 2024 Hospitality + Tourism Excellence Award.

This recognition underscores our vital role in enhancing Portland's tourism landscape, a testament to the strength of our partnership with Visit Portland. It's a celebration and a reminder that together, we can elevate the experience of our community and visitors.

This also acknowledges the hard work, creativity, and effort of our staff, who are remarkable individuals who bring their authentic selves to their roles every day. Our team, encompassing various departments from theatre to education and beyond, has turned mere sketches on paper into a reality teeming with life and creativity.

As we continue to evolve and grow as an organization, this award serves as a beacon of what we've achieved together and the endless possibilities that lie ahead.

From the lobster shack and fire engine in our neighborhood exhibits to the Beautiful Blackbird exhibit, the Maine Watershed aquarium, and the new Wabanaki Storytelling Through Arts and Tradition outdoor exhibit, every corner of CMTM is a testament to the richness of Maine's culture and heritage. The incredible murals painted by Maine artists and the contributions of hundreds of tradespeople, businesses, and service providers have made CMTM the remarkable place it is today.

As we embrace this honor, we are reminded of our mission and the impact we aim to make in children’s lives. We are humbled and proud to receive this award and remain committed to fostering an environment where creativity, inclusivity, and education thrive.
