The Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine produces theatre for kids, by kids. This already keeps Director of Theatre and Education Reba Askari very busy with several productions each year. “We strive for inclusivity and work hard to avoid any barriers to participation in our programming,” Reba explains. “Children do not have to pay to participate in our Main Stage Productions; they earn their place through audition. Creating meaningful, inclusive, playful learning experiences for all children regardless of ability is a crucial part of our work.”

Throughout November, Reba is even busier playing the lead role in “Mary Jane,” a Mad Horse Theatre production about a mother who is caretaking a very ill child.

A company member since 2014, Reba has directed One Flea Spare, Lysistrata, Alligator Road, Mr. Burns: A Post Electric Play, and The Tomb of King Tot. Her last stage experience was in Three Sisters as Olga with Fenix Theater in Deering Oaks Park. “I’m very excited to be acting again,” Reba said.
