The Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine was awarded $15,000 by the Maine Arts Commission. The partnership with MAC to make the arts more accessible is developing during an ideal time - our transition into the new building at Thompson’s Point. The new 30,000 ft2 facility will provide greatly expanded arts and culture exhibits and programming and theatre experiences to twice as many children and families each year, estimated to reach as many as 250,000 annually.

Additionally, the partnership supports the Museum & Theatre’s intentional inclusion of people who often face physical barriers to the arts.

Lastly, the MAC investment in an arts and culture organization that is growing will greatly benefit Maine and the region. The U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis reports that the arts and culture sector contributes $1.55 billion to Maine's economy, representing 2.5% of the state's GDP—a larger share than some other industries in the state.

The Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine will offer a unique family-friendly center for performing arts, art gallery appreciation, dress-up theatre, an experiential arts workshop, and musical performances.
