Bookings & Membership Assistant
POSITION PURPOSE
The Bookings and Membership Assistant works with the Visitor Services, Theatre, Education, and Advancement teams to answer questions about visitation, membership, and bookings via phone and email, assists with the processing of museum memberships, and books reservations for museum and theatre tickets over the phone. This position also regularly supports the Visitor Services team with visitor and member check in at CMTM’s Welcome Desk as needed, often for up to 8 hours.
POSITION SUMMARY
Provide staffing and support to bookings and rentals, including group and birthday party check-in and greeting
Support the front desk team with check-ins and ticket and membership sales, providing support throughout busy seasons, operating a Welcome Desk register in a high-volume, noisy environment
Create reservations for museum and theatre tickets via phone as inquiries come in
Sell memberships over the phone as inquiries come in
Respond to general phone calls as they come in, answering and directing inquiries correctly
Assist with processing memberships in a timely manner, raising issues with the Bookings & Membership Coordinator and Manager
Provide staffing and support to evening bookings and rentals, including event set-up, greeting, door security, and building closure on an as-needed basis
Check event information and tickets available to the public on our website are correct
Periodically review database entries for consistency and accuracy, flagging duplicates and other issues with the Bookings & Membership Manager
Perform other duties as identified by supervisor
Participate in annual self-evaluation & review
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Incredible customer service skills
Enjoy working with children and families
Proficiency with email, Microsoft Word, Excel, and point-of-sale systems
At least one year of experience taking reservations, bookings, and working with organizational calendars preferred
Experience working with teachers and child care providers a plus
Ability to work one weekend day
Clear background check

PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF WORKPLACE / ROLE
Listening to visitors and responding to them is required regularly, both in person and on a landline phone.
Computer use is required frequently.
Maintaining sight of the entrance to CMTM regularly requires visual acuity and the ability to react based on what is observed.
Role occasionally includes moving quickly to ensure children do not leave the premise unattended.
Motor dexterity required for locking front doors, stamping hands, typing, and exchanging and counting currency.
Many tasks require prolonged periods of sitting or standing during regular duties.
Reaching overhead is required occasionally for event set up.
Lifting up to 30 lbs is required occasionally for event set up.
Climbing ladders up to 6’’ high is required occasionally.
Bending, crawling, kneeling, and crouching required occasionally

SCHEDULE
8 hours per week - typically Saturdays 8:30am to 4:30pm. Additional shifts/hours in support of evening events, other teams, and seasonal needs may be offered on an as-needed basis.
COMPENSATION
$18.81 per hour. Earned Paid Leave (EPL): 1 hour of paid leave for every 40 hours worked. CMTM has an equitable system of pay that offers a base rate based on position, and incorporates longevity pay increases over time. This system is designed for equity and as such we do not have the ability to negotiate the compensation listed above.
