Request for Proposals: Multiple Exhibits

The Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine (CMTM), a Maine-based non-profit children’s museum and theatre serving 200,000 families annually, is undergoing a major renovation to upgrade the 1,435-square-foot Arts & Culture Gallery and 1,500-square-foot area of the Outdoor Discovery Playground.

CMTM seeks conceptual designs that include budget estimates for fabrication and installation of the exhibit components. Exhibit designs should provide documentation that can support design concepts, potential exhibit layouts, and cost.

CMTM seeks a phased approach to the project with a design phase this autumn followed by a pause beginning in January 2027 to complete fundraising efforts and ensure they match the budget for the selected design.

DESIGN PROJECT TIMELINE

August 20: RFP released

August 20-September 1: Optional site visits

September 20: Design proposals due - see first page for specifics

October 1: Notification of firms selected for interview with dates/times

October 15: Interviews via Zoom and notification/awarding of contract

October 15-December 15: Conceptual Design Development with a 50% complete review meeting in early November

December 30: Conceptual Design & Cost Estimates Provided to CMTM
