Casting Notice: Seeking Adult Actors for Youth Playwriting Festival

Casting Notice

The Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine (CMTM) seeks adult actors for the 3rd Annual Youth Playwriting Festival, a celebration of short plays written by young authors from across Maine. Actors rehearse each play once a week for four weeks, and perform during Festival Weekend. 

Casting depends heavily on availability within the festival schedule, as well as the proper fit for the part.

Adult actors will be engaged as independent contractors and compensated through a project-based contract.

Schedule 

  • Rehearsals: A Festival Kickoff meeting will be held on Thursday, September 17 at 6 pm. Each play will rehearse one hour a week for four weeks, September 21 - October 15. 

  • Tech rehearsal: Friday, October 16 from 6 pm - 9 pm

  • Festival Weekend: October 17-18, 2026.

Compensation

  • Adult actors will receive a $100 stipend for each play in which they are cast.
