The Children's Museum and Theatre of Maine hosted the Burnurwubskek Singers from the Penobscot Nation who will share music and stories with visitors. The event ran from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and was included with admission.

Read MoreThe Children's Museum in Portland hosted its annual "New Year's at Noon" today. This year's theme was an "indoor beach party." Hundreds of families kicked off their New Year's Eve celebration by making a "sea star wand" or learning about life underwater. Attendees brought in nonperishables to donate to Wayside Food Programs, and of course, they had a "sea star drop" instead of a traditional ball drop.
