This month, Science for Tots is abuzz with an exploration of insects! We’ll explore insects’ bodies by creating our own bugs from recycled materials, discover how honeybees work together to make honey with a bee foraging game, and explore symmetry by creating butterfly paint prints.

Afternoon Art is a one-hour opportunity for in-depth creation. Each week, we will meet at the studio table to learn about a different artist or maker & experiment with the mediums or styles they are known for. This week, we will focus on the abstract artist Kevin Xiques. Experiment with layered colors using a variety of squeegee sizes to create vibrant abstract paintings.

This week, we’ll focus on the work of Kevin Xiques, a self-taught abstract expressionist artist. We'll us layered squeegee techniques and acrylics to create big paintings. Assist in handling a basket of four mystery ingredients by offering advice, tasting, and using your imagination to help craft a culinary masterpiece. Will we crown a new CCC Champion? This week, we’ll focus on the illustrations of collage artist Oge Mora. Visitors will create an illustration made from curated collage materials using Mora’s style.

Free choice materials will also be available during this session.

Did you know that veterinarians might study loons or do laser therapy on elephants? Come meet traveling veterinarian Lisa Benson, DVM! Together we will explore veterinary tools like a stethoscope, use a microscope, and using our imaginations to step into the shoes of a veterinarian.

Whether you are meeting a dog for the first time or own a dog yourself, all are welcome to greet our friendly, four-legged therapy dog friends. Come hang out, read a book, sing a song, or explore dog training with a certified therapy dog and its caregiver. Therapy dogs will be visiting with a trained adult in the 3rd floor IDEXX STEM Learning Hub and would love to say "hi" to you if you wish. Included with Admission.

Known for floral, vibrant portraits celebrating Black and Brown identity, we will use rich colors to create a portrait in the spirit of Wiley.

This week, we will focus on Kehinde Wiley, a contemporary oil painter known for floral, vibrant portraits celebrating Black and Brown people. Use oil pastels, fabric and a mix of 2D supplies to create vibrant works of art.
