CASTING Notice
The Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine (CMTM) seeks adult actors for our summer intergenerational production of Disney and Pixar’s FINDING NEMO: A 60-Minute Family Musical scheduled to perform through July and August.
Ready to make a splash? Come experience Disney and Pixar’s Finding Nemo: a 60-Minute Family Musical a fin-tastic adventure bursting with music, color, and larger-than-life ocean creatures! When young Nemo is captured and taken far from home, his dad Marlin sets off across the sea—meeting sharks, sea turtles, and the unforgettable Regal Blue Tang Dory along the way. This vibrant production invites kids and grown-ups alike to celebrate bravery, resilience, and the power of believing in yourself.
Actors will be engaged as independent contractors and compensated through a project-based contract.
Character Descriptions
Most actors will play multiple characters within a track. Track descriptions and vocal ranges are below:
Marlin - Nemo’s anxious and overprotective father, a clownfish who prefers the safety of his anemone to the unknowns of the open ocean. Vocal range A2-F4.
Dory / Coral / Sheldon’s Parent- An optimistic, bubbly, and sociable blue tang who experiences frequent short-term memory loss. Vocal range G3-F5
Tad’s Parent / Crush / Nigel - Nemo’s classmate, a 150-year-old sea turtle, an Australian Pelican. Vocal range A3-Eb5
Professor Ray / Bruce / Gill - Nemo’s stingray teacher, an intimidating shark ringleader, the moorfish leader of the Tank Gang. Vocal range A3-E4
Understudies
Scope of Work
Attend rehearsals and take notes
Memorize blocking, choreography, music parts, and lines
Take notes and direction from the directing team
Honor the rehearsal and call schedule, including responsible communication around conflicts
Uphold the integrity of the production during performances
Schedule
Rehearsals: May 11-June 18, Monday-Thursday evenings.
Tech rehearsals: June 22-25, Monday-Thursday evenings.
Performances: June 27-August 23, Friday-Monday mornings. Call time is 10am-noon.

Compensation
All actors will receive a $750 stipend for the rehearsal period, to be paid at the invited dress rehearsal.
Actors will receive a $40 stipend for each performance in which they are onstage, to be paid out following the final performance.
Total Potential Compensation: $2070
Audition Information
The first round of auditions will be a virtual submission. All videos are due by April 30. Videos should include:
16-bars of a song of your choice.
A brief (less than 2 minutes) funny story from your childhood.
If needed, callbacks will take place on May 5. A member of the theater team will be in touch to schedule callbacks. All videos should be submitted through the form below. Questions can be directed to theatre@kitetails.org
